Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
What a Day sees some very personal parts of your day. This policy explains what we read, where it’s stored, and who can see it. In short: your data stays on your device as much as possible, we don’t sell it, and there are no ads.
Draft for review · To be confirmed before publication.
01Data we read
With your permission, What a Day reads: location (including background location, to detect trips and visits), the time and place of photos and videos, sleep, steps, workouts and heart rate from Apple Health, calendars and reminders, and what’s playing.
Each requires its own system permission, which you can turn off anytime in iPhone Settings. Once off, that content no longer appears on your timeline.
02Where data is stored
Records are stored on your device. iCloud sync is not implemented in the current version; device backups depend on system settings and available space.
03AI features
Daily summaries and AI rewrites are generated on-device using Apple Intelligence. Nothing is sent to our servers. You can exclude facts or turn off auto-write.
04What goes to third parties
Weather: your approximate location is sent to Apple WeatherKit to fetch local weather.
Maps: maps and addresses are provided by Apple MapKit.
Purchases: subscriptions and payments are handled by the App Store; we never see your payment details.
We use no advertising SDKs and never sell or rent your data.
05Sharing
Share cards are created only when you choose to share. Location can be shown as a map, a path only, or hidden; the first and last 200 m are trimmed near Home.
06Your control
Edit or delete any record at any time, export a full archive, or delete everything. Deleting the app deletes its data from your device.
07Children
What a Day is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
08Changes
If this policy changes materially, we’ll say so in the app and on this page, and update the date above.
